About ConchCat
I go by ConchCat in most internet spaces I am in. I am a middle millennial who was born in Bryan, Texas, and currently live in Houston. I am a cisgender male and use he/him pronouns.
I used to record Let's Plays on my humble YouTube channel in the early 2010s, then streamed on Twitch from 2015 to about 2016. Back then I went by 'ConservativeCat', but ten years is a long time. I first started blogging in 2005 in high school. I blogged extensively until 2009, across multiple blogs and platforms. While I stopped doing it, I missed long form writing content, but hadn't gotten into the mindset of doing creative endeavors for myself.
I graduated from high school in the mid-2000s (just in time for the global financial crisis). I went to college in Huntsville, Texas where I majored in print journalism. I currently hold two master's degrees: International Relations (Political Science) and Counseling. I work as a social studies teacher in a high school setting, but I've also taught middle school, as well as English as a second language in an adult education setting. I have 12+ years under my belt as a teacher.
My hobbies include hiking, writing, weight lifting, and cooking. I enjoy playing games of most kinds: video games, board games, TTRPGs. I prefer cooperative gameplay over competitive gameplay. I enjoy reading many different genres of books - I just want a compelling story, though a romantic subplot is always nice. In nonfiction, I prefer either historical narratives or disenfranchised voices.
Some of my other interests include politics and education policy. My temper and outlook is probably best described as 'social anarchism'.
